The Officers of Route 5 are committed to the concept of community policing. They proactively work to establish and maintain partnerships with the residents and business people of Watertown. Through these efforts they hope to ensure that the neighborhoods are safe and secure by addressing issues in a problem solving method that vary from quality of life to the more traditional policing areas.
These will include enforcing laws and ordinances, the protection of property and persons, the preservation of public peace and the control of traffic, as well as investigation and inspection.
Officer Initiatives
The officers policing your neighborhoods make a daily effort to make contact with the citizens they serve. Help them out, introduce yourself, they will appreciate it. Some of the major Initiatives that the officers are involved with are:
- The Law Class at Watertown High School
- Cops and Kids
- Friday Night Live
- Crisis Response Team
- Video Challenge
- Bike Patrol
- Neighborhood Meetings
- Citizen Coalition
- High School Interaction
If you would like to know more about these initiatives and others ask an officer, they will be happy to fill you in or direct you to someone who can. The members of the Watertown Police Department look forward to serving you.
