On Thursday October 23, 2008 recruits Kenneth C Dinjian Jr., Emily A. Doss, John K. Watts and Michael C. D'Amico graduated from the Lowell Police Academy. They attended the Academy from May 12 through October 23, 2008. Due to the large size of the recruit class it was split into two sections. Dinjian and Doss were assigned to section 01 while D'Amico and Watts were assigned to 02. During graduation exercises Dinjian and Watts were recognized by the Academy staff for attaining the highest academic scores in their respective sections. Watts was also held the position of class treasurer. There were a total of 77 recruits representing 20 different communities in this Academy.
These newly hired officers attended their first roll call and were welcomed to the Watertown Police Department on Friday October 24, 2008.
They were sworn in at Watertown Town Hall on Friday October 24, 2008. Each officer will be assigned to a field training officer for the next several months. The field training program allows each new officer to put the skills learned at the academy to use under the tutelage of a veteran officer.
