LiUNA continued their protest while Kidder Building and Wrecking Inc. kept tearing down the Browne School. At the end of the day the Browne school was no more.
Over the next several days the debris will be sorted and hauled away for processing.

LiUNA continued protesting the fact that an out of state demolition contractor was doing work in Watertown. The demolition contractor, Kidder Building and Wrecking Inc., continued demolition of the building as well as sorting and hauling away debris.
Work was slowed down today when live wires were hit by the demolition machinery. This caused some sparking and smoke but no fire. Work in the area was immediately stopped. The source of that electricity was identified and disconnected by National Grid.

Members from LiUNA (Laborers' International Union of North America), protested at the job site this morning. They are upset that the demolition contractor, Kidder Building and Wrecking Inc., is from New Hampshire. LiUNA would prefer the work be performed by a local company.

The asbestos removal contractor is in the process of removing all the asbestos from the property. The demolition contractor has equipment waiting to go to work tearing down the building.

Asbestos abatement continues. Trees that have been designated to remain have been fenced off to protect the trunk as well as the root zone. An excavator with a mechanical pulverizer is on site waiting to be put into service during demolition of the building.

Asbestos abatement continues. The asphalt from the parking areas and driveway has been reclaimed and preliminary excavation work is underway. The crushed stone at the construction entrance prior to the sidewalk (first picture on the left) has been put in place to minimize the tracking of dirt and mud onto the street.
