The Community and Staff Development Division oversees a variety of programs and initiatives. This Division is responsible for creating and offering safety programs for all ages.
All training that members of the Police Department receive is also coordinated through this division.
The division is responsible for ensuring the Department's compliance with the standards set by the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission.
Operating out of this division are the School Resource Officers, DARE officers, Crime Analysis and the Detail Office.
The Jail Diversion Program is coordinated through this division as well.
Sir Robert Peale in 1829 wrote:
“police are only members of the public who are paid to give full time attention to duties that are incumbent on every citizen, in the interest of community welfare and coexistence.”
