The U.S. Department of Justice has recently announced and detailed funding under the Recovery Act. The Watertown Police Department has been allocated a grant in the amount of $27,540. The stated purposes of the Recovery Act are to preserve and create jobs and promote economic recovery.
One of the requirements under this grant is that the grant be made available for review by the governing body at least 30 days prior to grant submission and that an opportunity for public comment also be provided.
These Federal funds must be used to supplement existing state and local funds for grant activity and must not replace those funds that have been appropriated for the same purpose.
